One possible bug. I added a skill to a slot and it got brighter as expected. But when I removed the skill it still remained "brighter" like the other selected skills. In the game I can place a skill in the bonus slots and then drag and drop it with a skill in the normal 12 spots and it works. (Probably a bug). Granted this approach does kind of force you to occasionally switch skills and experiment, but I wouldn't have minded another 3 or 6 skill slots.
